We do not allow local residents to stay in our hostel. This is to maintain an international atmosphere and availability for travellers. We also cannot accommodate some guests with limited mobility, we have rather steep sets of stairs in our century-old buildings.

The Cambie requires valid (not expired) government-issued photo identification. This includes drivers’ licenses, passports and provincial or state identification. All Canadian ID MUST state an address outside the Lower Mainland of Vancouver.
Yes. We have computers with internet in the common rooms of both the Seymour and Gastown locations. We also provide free wireless internet for laptop and mobile users.
There are many parking garages located in close proximity to both of our downtown locations. Each of them having different rates for days, evenings, and weekends. There is also street parking available free everyday 10pm – 9am.
There is no curfew and no lockout at The Cambie International Hostels. Our Front Desk is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are several money changers throughout the downtown area which are within walking distance of our hostels.
Backpacks containing non-valuable items such as clothes and toiletries are usually left in the dormitory. Valuables such as cameras, passports, and money should always be kept in a safe place, either in the room lockers, or our luggage storage area. Theft is relatively uncommon in hostels and we hostellers would like to keep it that way. Keep valuables with you or place them in the hostel’s safe-keeping facilities. In an effort to keep your valuable safe we have cameras installed in all our hallways.
Check-out time is 11am (11:00). Late check-outs will be charged a $10 penalty fee for every hour.
Coffee or tea, and a muffin. At our Gastown location you can upgrade to a full breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon or sausage for $5.25.
In peak travel season it’s best to call or e-mail ahead to inquire if reservations are needed. Rooms that are not reserved are available on a first come, first served basis. For this reason it’s best to plan to arrive in the morning to make a booking (though check-in starts at 2PM) This gives you the best opportunity to get a bed. Reservations can be made via telephone and internet (Visa or Mastercard required). We require 24 hours for cancellations. If you cancel within 48 hours of your expected arrival, your deposit will not be refunded.
No, we do not allow personal linens such as sleeping bags, sleep sheets and pillows. Please check these items at our Front Desk upon arrival.
No. Hostels are shared facilities . For security reasons, there are no visitors allowed upstairs. The bar is fair game for any of those 19+ however, so the social fun isn’t too far.
Yes. If you’re expecting someone let us know and we will do our best to take any messages. If you do not let us know ahead of time we are unable to even confirm your presence at the hostel, this is to ensure full privacy for guests.
